WELCOME TO FEREIKOS HELIX
Until relatively recently, the edible snail in Greece was to be found and collected only in the wild, and consumers regarded it as a seasonal, traditional product.
Nowadays, however, after extensive research, the open full biological cycle production is rapidly expanding, a process which allows for full completion of their natural biological cycle, and which ensures continuous availability throughout the year.
Fereikos Helix, based in Corinth in Greece, oversees the development of open snail farms in full biological cycle globally . The company’s name is derived from two ancient Greek words – “fero” – to carry, and “oikos” – house, which when combined, translates literally as “I carry my own house”, an apt description of the snail.
This ancient, composite word, no longer used in modern Greek, illustrates the place the snail has occupied in the traditions of mankind.
Fereikos, founded in April 2011, offers high quality snail products, cleaned, pre-cooked and ready to cook meals for your convenience. We bring our products to you in two ways: with or without shells.
In 2009, we were presented with the “Golden Snail” award. In 2011 we were awarded the International Prize for Snail Farming and received the “Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2011” award granted by Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou.
